This Saturday, Larry GOT GOT big time.
The plan–or so he thought–was for us to meet my middle sister and her boyfriend David for a boozy brunch at a great Mexican spot on the Upper East Side, MAYA.
Little did Larry know that when we entered the restaurant, he would be greeted with a hearty SURPRISE from about 20 of his closest friends who had been in on the idea to ring in his 30th birthday with a bang (and some Bloody Marys).
For the next few hours, our group hung out in our reserved lounge area and enjoyed absolutely delish free flowing cocktails and Mexican small plates like Squash Blossom Quesadillas with poblano chiles and roasted corn.
SO FUN–that is until the 7:30 p.m. hangover began to kick in... BUMMER.
Lessons learned:
1. Surprise parties are the best!
2. There's nothing like great friends.
3. Black and white cookies (Larry's fave–see pic above) actually do kind of go with Mexican food.
4. At age 29+, day drinking just isn't as easy as it used to be.
