You do not–I repeat: DO NOT–ever have to buy any full price designer garb ever again.
Because everything you could possibly want and more is hiding for way, way less in one of the recent influx of Upper East Side and online consignment troves.
Is anyone freaking out about the recent fabulousness of consignment shopping as I am?
First let's discuss Second Time Around, the approachable consignment chain organized and edited like a local boutique. Maybe I'm biased member of the 'hood, but its uptown Lexington and Madison locations are total goldmines. WIth brands ranging from Free People to Chanel, it's a major must for every budget and taste. I recently scored a pair of Nike Dunk Hi's, a striped Saint James tee, and J Brands there, all for about $100.
Want to stay in? My trophy vote goes to Bib + Tuck. The closet trading site's online currency means nary a green is exchanged. Instead you put a value on your reject clothing and accessories, and when someone snaps 'em up, you get a credit to your account. It's SO addicting, and kind of a lot more fun than using real money. I'm still deciding what to "buy" with my credit for a pair of flatform sandals that just weren't working for me.
Runners up Vaunte and The Real Real have a much more select range of designer-focused offerings. Are prices higher? Sure. But with jewels like mint condition Burberry trenches, Alaia booties, and beyond, it still beats retail by a landslide.
Like they say, one woman's trash is another woman's most amazing buy ever.
