It's been a long time since I've seen dreamy, gorgeous, transportive band The XX live.
And after seeing this awesome video of the song "Loud Places" I'm seriously regretting passing up on tix to Jamie XX's upcoming summer show at Terminal 5 (last time I went there it was to see Holy Ghost on Halloween and I felt like a legit oldie).
Just. Watch.
I Can't Decide: Sonia Rykiel Maison OR Missoni Home
In today's edition of #LibraProblems...
Sonia Rykiel Maison (below left) and Missoni Home (below right) collections are both so tastefully colorful and gorgeous that I simply cannot make up my mind.
Which team are you on?!
The Birkenstocks That Nobody's Talking About
From the Man Repeller to Alexa Chung, everything everywhere this season has been about Birks, Birks, Birks.
That's why I was so shocked that the iconic brand's Papillio collection has been flying so under-the-radar.
After noticing some styles perched in the window of Harry's Shoes, an old-person shoe store in the Upper West Side (no judgement!), I went home and immediately Googled the line.
Apparently according to the Birkenstock website, Papillio is all about "feminine, fashionable sandals that appeal particularly to women." Eww.
But still... could these be any cuter???!
Sicko Style
Aren't you not supposed to get strep throat after like third grade?!
Apparently not.
Because for the past few days, I've been home sick feeling like sh*t.
Here are a collection of uplifting things that seem way more effective than the giant blue horse pills I was prescribed.
ART SOCKS!
Some people wear their heart on their sleeve. But right now, I'm crazy about wearing my art on my socks.
Definitely stocking up on these babies from Sock Drawer now... At $8 a pop, they make the masterpiece affordable to all.
Helllooo pre-fall.
Two Unbelievable ClassPass Mat Classes
I, like countless New Yorkers, am completely over-the-moon about ClassPass. Between the endless array of luxury locker rooms and new exercise experiences, I just can't get enough.
And lately, two studios have stood above the rest for their insanely effective workouts and ridiculously awesome founder/instructor.
This Friday's double shoutout goes to PatriciaFit (above left) and Nalini Method (above right).
Both spots specialize in mat-based classes that fuse moves from pilates, barre, and strength training into one killer hour.
Patricia Whitcas (trainer to Al Roker!!) of PatriciaFit has a relentlessly cheerful and lighthearted demeanor that makes her intense thigh band magically bearable; Rupa Mehta of Nalini Method is as adorable as she is focused, which somehow motivates you to tuck your tailbone under, squeeze that core, and feel the burn like woah.
Plus in both spots, everybody–well, the instructor at least–knows your name. Being greeted with "Hi Hali, good to see you!" or corrected with "Hali, lower your hips," is a pretty huge feat in the Manhattan fitness scene, and one that simply makes you feel good.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I almost hate to share the awesomeness of studios...
Don't steal my spot fellow ClassPassers!!!
