I've had shoes on the brain A LOT lately... Well come to think about it, I guess I basically always do, but with fall on the horizon, the obsession is just way to hard to ignore.
Speaking of–is it just me, or does Urban Outfitters online have an insanely great lineup of boots this season???
While I've had my eye on a <$100 pair of the store's mules for some time now, the guys below have recently begun to vie for my heart.
Check these out... AMIRIGHT?!?!
The Mule Log
Transitional style. Everybody's talkin' 'bout it from Gap to Net a Porter to AM New York. And I totally get it.
A fashion change-up at this point in the summer is just what the doctor ordered... But finding pieces that make sense to wear now–and in three months from now–isn't always the easiest. Especially when it comes to shoes.
That pretty much explains my recent obsession with mules.
So effortless and so cool, they look as great with August-appropriate shorts and an airy top as they will with a pair of autumnal midi culottes and button downs.
Here's a couple of pairs that have me drooling:
Superstar Shoutout: John Frieda Original Frizz Ease Serum
A few weeks back. I gloated about the virtues of Bumble and Bumble Don't Blow It.
Well, now that summer is in full effect, I've moved onto something that takes a more serious approach to humidity and hair puffiness. And let me tell you–it leaves any overpriced Bumble product in the dust.
John Frieda Original Frizz Ease Serum has been around for a million years, costs less than $10, and is absolute godsend. Yes, I'm talking about the stuff that high school memories are made of...
Simply keep it handy in your shower, rake a drop through sopping wet hair, comb through, air dry, and enjoy the fruits of no-joke silky strands on steamy 78+ degree days. Works as good as it did in 2001, if not better.
Super-Cool Sandals I Found In Baja
I had the pure and utter pleasure of spending the past week in the Baja region of Mexico. (BTW–take me back there now, please).
During the trip, although shopping took a rare backseat to other oh-so-important activities (tanning... guacamole eating... sting ray spotting...), a day journey to the small and super-chilled surfer town of Todos Santos introduced me to the brainchild of a Quiksilver alum, Beek, an insanely well-made handcrafted sandal brand stocked in a teeny local boutique called Nomad Chic.
A longtime fan of unfussy leather sandals that age like Linda Rodin (I think it's been nearly a decade now that I've been wearing the same pair of tan wrap-up gladiators purchased during a trip to Athens back in college), this pair of Beeks literally made my heart race.
Look closely, and you'll see that the brand geniusly shapes arch support into the seemingly flat soles. One try, and you're totally hooked.
If only Mexico vacations–or at the very least, summer–could last forever....
Me and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Dress
It may be the sunniest season, but if you're still finding yourself craving a day brightener I highly recommend signing up for Moda Operandi's emails.
While I have yet to pre-order a fantastic little bag or future season's RTW ensemble from the site, simply seeing a message from MO pop up in my Gmail is always a major treat.
My latest inbox obsession recently arrived in the form of this insane Mary Katrantzou dress, which gives Joseph's proverbial coat a serious run for it's money. Can you even handle how such a wildly colorful spectrum of pleats manages to so elegantly cascade from underneath the blank white sheath?!?!
Andrew Lloyd Webber, get on this one immediately, please.
Friday Pride Day!!!!
YAY for PRIDE... and for these festive rainbow confetti balloons which I would definitely use as decor in an LGBT wedding!!! So cute, right?!
Flattering Bikinis DO Exist
I'm SO ready for my Cabo trip taking place in just a week and change (woohoo!), however my bikini selection is definitely not.
Of course, I saved the dreaded shopping trip 'til the very last minute...
And can you really blame me? This season's supposedly flattering high-waisted styles are bulge-city, and the one-piece with cut-outs phenomenon is a one-way route to the ugliest tan lines ever.
It took some FBI-esque online browsing to find this array of curve-friendly suits. With ruching and flip bottoms as a constant theme, I'm praying that they all fit as gorgeously as I'm imagining.
